Threatened/Endangered Species Surveys & assistance in developing
Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP's)
In accordance with the Endangered Species Act (ESA), it is a violation
to do anything that has a negative impact on a federally listed threatened
or endangered species of animal.
But there are a number of tools available to the landowner or developer
to mitigate those violations.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) web site has a wealth of information.
The first step in any of the processes is to conduct presence/absence
surveys for suspected species of concern. These surveys are normally conducted
under strict protocols established by the FWS. We are federally permitted
to conduct such surveys on select endangered species.
In some cases, getting a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) approved by
FWS may be necessary. We have the experience to assist in developing an
HCP.
